Healthy Habits Challenge 1: Drink 2L Of Water Per Day
Today 01/05/12 is the first EVER healthy habits challenge. I am super exited to get the challenge started today! with the first challenge being…
DRINK 2 LITRES OF WATER PER DAY
I am doing these healthy habits challenges, with a new one each month, to help myself as-well as others get into habits that will help in our goal towards clear skin and better over-all health.
Everyone is welcome to participate in the challenges, and can join in at any time

Why 2 Liters Per Day?
There is no strict rule on drinking 2 litres of water per day, but because that is the recommended amount I thought it would be a good target.
However I want to make this clear – you don’t have to drink 2 litres of water, drink what you are comfortable with.
Tap Or Bottled Water?
The more pure and cleaner the water the better, but getting real pure water is almost impossible these days.
For that reason I will be drinking spring water from a glass bottle, as plastic can leach toxins into the water, however if the expense adds up I will use filtered tap water.
How Will Drinking Water Help With My Skin?
- Water helps to flush toxins from the system. Flushing toxins from the system is important for acne because if the smaller organs cannot eliminate all the toxins, they got sent to the biggest organ of all, the skin. When toxins get extracted through the skin they can appear as pimples, rash etc.
- Helps to hydrate the body and skin. Every cell in the body needs water. Hydration is central to the most basic physiological functions such as regulating blood pressure and body temperature, hydration and digestion. Good digestion is especially important for clear skin.
What Happens If I Don’t Hit My Target On Some Days?
If I do forget, or drink very little water on some days I will mark it down on my handmade calendar, if I get 5 fails, I fail the over-all challenge.
These are the rules I have set myself, you can follow them if you want, or make your own.
The reason I have decided to give myself 5 fails is because for most people it takes around 25 days to form a new habit.
How Long Before Results?
I am hoping to see some results in terms of feeling more energetic etc after around 5 days, as for improvements in my skin hopefully in around 2-3 weeks.
Updates
I will be updating this post every 10-15 days, or when I see significant results, so make sure you stay tuned for updates.
Are you up for the 2 LITRES OF WATER PER DAY challenge?
This is the first update of the healthy habits drink 2L of water per day challenge.
I was really looking forward to this challenge. I set it up with drinking 2L of water per day thinking I could do it without much trouble.
But Did I?…
Nope!
So far it has been more difficult than I previously thought it would have been. Out of the 15 days I have failed 11 of them! (you can see which ones I have passed/failed on the calender above)
I am very sorry about this and apologize for leaving people down. I had high hopes that I could do this challenge and share some good results, I was wrong. If you feel let down I totally understand.
The Rest Of The Challenge
This challenge still has 15 days left before it ends. I have already failed and it would be easy for me to stop it right now, but I have decided to carry on and try to make sure I pass the next 15 days.
Hopefully I will still have some good results to share at the end of the challenge if I manage to do the last 15 days without fail.
That brings me onto my next point.
The Results So Far
As far as skin goes, there are no visible improvements, but that is understandable as I have only passed 4 days.
The good news is I do feel much more energetic after I have drunk a good amount of water, especially early on in the day.
Other than that there is nothing else to report yet.
How Are You Getting On?
I would love to hear how the rest of you who participated in the challenge are getting on. Have you seen any results? Are you still doing the challenge?
Update (01/06)
Today is the last update of the water challenge and the start of a new one. This being the first healthy habits challenge I was not sure how it was going to go and for that reason there have been ups and downs.
The Ups
Getting people to participate with me. Going into the challenge I was not sure if anyone was going to join in, but to my surprise a few did. I would really like to thank everyone who did take part in the first ever challenge.
The Downs
Failing the challenge badly is a massive downer for me. I had high hopes going into it and failed miserably. Sorry if I let you down.
Results
My results where good on the days I drunk water, not so good on the days I did not. When I consistently drunk water a few days in a row my acne scars looked less visible, my skin did not look so dry and I felt way more energetic.
On the days I did not drink water my skin looked really dry, and my energy levels where not as high.
What about you, what where your results?
P.S Look out for the new healthy habits challenge coming soon!
