I still suffer from very minor acne, so I cannot claim that if you follow these tips your skin will look amazing and you will never have to worry about getting acne again as many acne articles do. I will never tell you that as there is never going to be a way to guarantee you get clear skin without ever getting a breakout again.
However what I will provide you with is 10 tips for acne that I have discovered to be very effective that greatly helped me get to were I am today.
If I come across as arrogant I am really sorry, but it hurts me when I see people being given empty promises by people online about how this will guarantee you get clear skin with 24 hours etc, when really they are only saying it to get your money. The only thing you will get from me is the honest truth, and if you don’t like the truth then I do apologise and maybe this is not the place for you.
Now I have that out of the way below is a list of 10 tips I hope will help get you were you want to be. Enjoy!
Tip 1 – Don’t Be A Fool. Keep Cool!
Hope you liked the catchy title. What I meant by that is don’t panic about getting additional acne breakouts or other issues that might throw themselves up.
The reason for this is because panic and stress will put the body out of balance, including the hormones and alkaline/acid balance. Once this happens you are much more prone to getting acne breakouts.
Tip 2 – Get Drinking That Water
The recommended amount of water we should be drinking each day is 6-8 glasses(2 litres). I personally do not go by this and will drink less some days and more others, but they key is to always drink some water everyday.
Drinking water on a daily basis will help hydrate the skin and remove toxins, as well as a whole host of other benefits.
Tip 3 – You Don’t Need To Be A Gym Addict
Everyone knows that a key part of anyone’s routine should be exercise, however this does not mean you need to go to the gym everyday, or ever. Instead try other exercises such as hiking, mounting biking, swimming etc, not only are these more enjoyable (for most) but are also more beneficial for people who suffer from acne than lifting weights in a gym.
Tip 4 – If Your Green On The Inside, Your Clean On The Inside
What I mean by this statement is the more green foods (and drinks) that you eat (drink) the cleaner your insides will be. The reason for this is because greens contains many beneficial elements that help to clear out anything unwanted from the body, and they are also the building blocks to a healthier body.
When eating greens it is very important to rotate the greens that you consume, one day have spinach, then another change it to lettuce. If you do this I can almost guarantee you that consuming greens will be one of the best things you can do for your acne.
Tip 5 – Stop Touching Your Face
This was something I had a big problem with, I was always checking my face every 5 minutes to see if my acne had gotten any better, Obviously I knew it had not but it became a habit. Little did I know at the beginning that this habit was actually making my acne worse. The hands and especially the tips of the fingers are covered in bacteria from handling various objects throughout the day, then when you touch the face this is transferred over, leading to more bacteria on the face leaving extra opportunity for acne to manifest.
Tip 6 – Eat A Balanced Healthy Diet
There is so much controversy when it comes to diet and acne, which I will discuss in more detail in a later post. What I will say is eating a well balanced healthy diet will help your acne, but if you go to far either way, you could potentially cause more problems as I did, which you can find out more by looking at the about page.
Tip 7 – Change That Pillow Case Daily
The pillow case is somewhere a lot of bacteria, oil, dirt and other impurities quickly build up, and each night your face is lying on this, which can eventually over time lead to clogged pores and acne breakouts.
Changing the pillow case every day or two is the best solution to this problem. If you do run out of clean pillow cases what I do is use a clean towel and put it over the pillow.
Tip 8 – Make Use Of Home Remedies
Not only are home remedies a great cheap alternative to expensive over the counter treatments but they are extremely effective to. I recommend that anyone who suffers from acne should be using home remedies in addition to other treatments.
One of my favourite remedies is a Manuka honey mask, which is simply Manuka honey applied over the facial area and left on for 30 minutes. This is especially effective for people with acne scars.
Tip 9 – Never Squeeze Your Pimples (Just Don’t Do It, Please!)
I hate seeing people squeeze there pimples thinking they are doing good, when in-fact you could be causing long term scaring. If you wake up with a big pimple that you have to get rid of I recommend you either use a concealer, or follow this guide one how to safely get rid of pimples.
Tip 10 – Be Happy!
The last tip is a simple one. Be Happy! When you suffer from acne I know how difficult this can be, but if you change your mindset and remember that the only person who cares and worries about your acne, is YOU, then it becomes a little easier.
